    It has begun!

The upland bucks are still chasing does, and their musk is strong on the ridges. Lots of movement in the bottomlands where we found this one. There was still blood on the end of burr it was so fresh. Small, but dense!

    A hunters paradise
I just bought 400 more pounds of corn today to put out. Haven't been feeding regularly since the first of December. Going to start feeding regularly again to see what all has made it through the season, and to see when the antlers are dropping. Shed antler hunting is just about as much fun to me as deer hunting!! Good luck to everyone!!

Good price, but was it "deer" corn?

Yes it was deer corn. Said they had to move it quickly. Sold 3 pallets. The apple flavor was $3 bucks too but it was only 40# bags. Honestly I can't tell any difference if they are attracted to it more than reg corn.

Looked for sheds today, nothing but tracks, and we flushed a bobcat from under a log. We'll go back to the bedding areas when the snow melts.

I am still going to wait a little while. I would hate to run them off and they shed on somebody elses property.

I go into these areas year round, and the deer don't seem to mind. Every shed season, I never find antlers in the exact same place. If I don't get out early, the rodents get to them before I do! LOL

I had a deer on camera that shed one already, I'll probably wait a little while to before I go hopefully I have a better go, last year I swear my black lab and me went out several different occasions and never found the first shed, must have walked 5 miles a day

It happens that way. Every year is different. We just enjoy watching the land transition from winter to spring, and can interact with the life around us. There is always a lesson to be learned from the natural world!
