I agree with that also. There a ton of cranes/herons whatever you wanna call them around here. Used to see one every now and then..see em almost daily now.

Snakes will thin frogs out too.

Pot of gold. Had a better mess than I thought. The first 3 were small, the rest were all for sure keepers. Had a first. I've probably gigged/cleaned 5000 frogs in my life, easily. Had a stump leg frog. Gone at the knee, completely healed. Never seen that. Turtle for sure. Think it swam in circles?

You know about the experiment with frogs have you not. Guy takes frog and sets it down and says jump frog. Frog jumps 15 foot. Guy then cuts off frogs front legs and set it down and says jump frog, frog jumps 10 foot. Guy then cuts off back legs and sets frog down and say jump. Frog just sit there no matter how many time he told the frog to jump. In his notes on the experiment he writes frog with all four legs jump 15 foot, cut off frogs front legs and frog jump 10 foot, cut off back legs and frog can't hear. :D And we probably paid for his experiment with taxpayers money.

Well things didn't go as planned for me either dirstalker. Just hit a couple new ponds. One was knee high grass and briar thickets the other was weed whacked to the dirt. Saw tons of small frogs but not enough eaters to fool with the hassle. Ive got to get some jugs out to keep the turtle population in check.

KIMG0064-1920x1080.JPG Had a pretty decent weekend with an hour or two to spare to hit a small pond at my neighbors. Gigging was hard with the amount of grass they had to lay on in the middle of the pond but the .22 sniping paid off and was super fun! The little guy was my nephew's first harvest (of any type of game) and it was very satisfying to see his expression when he got to eat it deep fried lol. I think he's hooked.

Went and got 15 more jumbo frogs tonight. Can't just sit around feeling sorry for myself, so I went and got some frogs. Got 11 on one pond, then finished out with 4 on another pond that was LOADED with jumbo frogs. I'll go back there with Dad tomorrow or Wednesday. I expected to get 15 off one pond tonight. We hadn't gigged it, and it was VERY LOUD when I stopped by on opening night. Dad and I didn't get to it opening night, so that is where I went first. Only saw 3 frogs, so I left. Somebody has gigged the hell out of it. Hope they left enough for seed. Still have a couple more good ponds we haven't hit, so hopefully we can get another 30.

You can make some delicious soup with frog legs. It may not look like the best but boy is it yummy.

Dang it. Only had 14. Wouldn't have taken 2 minutes to get another one.

Went with Dad again tonight. Got 30 more, but there are 5-6 smaller than we normally gig. They’ll eat though. Think I’ll try for 100 this year. That used to be the norm. Up to 75 so far.

Quick little recipe I tried the other night and loved it! Marinade legs in zesty Italian dressing and Everglades heat seasoning (or you fave spice) for 30 minutes. Coat grill grates with canola cooking spray. Grill low&slow till it starts separating from the bone. Mmmhmm I'd put it up there with the traditional batter fry method, but that's just me;):). Easy peasy cleanup too!
