I think that what you found was definitely held by an ancient human. just looking at it I can't tell that it has been worked. It has the general shape of a spear point but outside of that I can't say it was finished. If I had to guess I would say that it was a preform that they had in mind to be a special point. I have seen and found points that had the bullseye design in them and wouldn't say its common. My guess is it was a preform that has been beaten up by farm equipment. These ancient folks lost tools and materials just like we do. They just had a lot more territory to misplace things.

I made a couple of these sifters this past spring out of PVC pipe, screen and a few cable ties I got at Home Depot, I got the idea from watching videos on UTube of people using them to sift for arrowheads on gravel bars in creeks. I live about 5 miles from Nolin river and I retired 3 years ago, so I have a lot of time to spend on the river. I kayaked the Nolin river over 200 days last year. I would find a few points almost everyday. My Photobucket acct got messed up so the pics in this thread got lost somewhere in the cloud. I took a few pictures of what I found along the river last year, I'll post them and the pictures I have of the flint and stone tools that I have found over the years.

These are Hopewell cores, I found about 200 of these on 1 site.

This is the smallest point that I have ever found.

This is a Hopewell core, you can see where they knapped off small flakes, that they used about the same as we would a pocket knife.

This is where I dump most of the flint, stone tools and the heart breakers that I have found over the past 35 years.

Hope you all enjoyed these as much as I do finding them.
When it warms up enough to get back in the river this spring I'll post more of my finds.
