Doggonit guys! It’s early July and you all got me tore up already!
Awesome!! I dont have anything close to those!! hope you get one!!
Nice looking buck but remember that velvet makes them look bigger than they actually are.
Thanks, I do too. Best ones I’ve ever had on my camera. Probably won’t see them again, lol
Got me anxious to go pull my card!
Hope this one shows up again this year.
That buck looks old. Nice buck. Good luck.
I remember James Kroll saying he used July 4th as a memorable date he could "tell what a buck's going to be." Tines might get longer, beams longer, but you can tell basically how big a deer is by the fourth.
From what I’ve seen through the years with trail cam pics on our place... that’s pretty much spot on.
Biggest growth spurt is from mid May to mid June. By the first week of July ...width and general frame is set. Might add a little more tine length or beam length as mentioned...but growth is at a much slower rate compared to just a few weeks earlier.
Jul 2nd Cute bunny...and a deer too.
edited out the thumbnail
I also have a few deer that look almost done growing. I noticed last year that I had 5-6 deer shed in early January. These are the same deer that are almost done growing now. I think with the cold weather we had last winter that a lot of deer lost there antlers soon . So they began growing sooner.
Date and time are correct. He has a lot more growth compared to the other deer on the farm. Don't think he will be a shooter
