The F&W up there were keeping track of the sow via camera and collar as part of a study. They got him on camera doing what him and his son did.
Clearly I’ve never read the rules on bear hunting in Alaska but is it illegal to knowingly kill a nursing sow? Are you ok if you didn’t know it was a sow with cubs. Obviously whacking the cubs was a no no after the fact.
yes. same in Alberta (and probably in the lower 48 also). illegal to kill a sow with cubs. Cubs will be with the sow for two spring hunting seasons. born in feb/march, run off at 16/17 mths. they can be really small when you see them, season one, or 40 lbs or so, season two.
