That's known as the 2 incher. 2 inches higher he's dead, 2 inches right he's dead, 2 inches lower he's dead. More than likely after rutting and losing all the body weight that they do the stress of it will get him but who knows, I've seen deer live through traumatic things in the past that I didn't think they would. Including one who's front leg was completely missing after getting hit by a car. Saw that doe for several years after that.
