    raised n Bullitt Co.
made several trips in younger days from Ky to Co for snow skiing. drove all over Wyoming, parts of SD and parts of CO a couple of years ago (couple of times for thanksgiving weekend, more driving than skiing). driving across Kansas is torture during daylight hours, nothing to see and flat. another family trip, flew into Vegas and drove all over Az. depending what you want to see, may be worth flying part of the way. some complain about flying, I've had very few issues.

We stay about 40 miles north of Ft. Myers. From Lex with our stops with our daughter and dogs takes about 15-15.5. We try to pull out about 5:30am and be there before dark. Before our little one we stayed in Naples for years. It’s nice but way down there! I don’t mind the length of Florida nearly as bad as Georgia. Once you’re past Atlanta getting to that Florida line feels like the longest drive in history!

I will say this, depending on what part of the state you’re in, I’d rather pay 50-100 extra and leave from Lexington before I drive to Cincy or Lville. Lex is so simple to navigate.

Well I’m 10 mins from Lex and like I said I’m not saving money to drive elsewhere unless it’s a lot. Lexington is too easy!

Cincy isn't nearly as bad as it used to be when it was still a Delta hub, and way cheaper than then too.

But I'd go out of Lexington too all things being equal, between gas and parking for any significant time period, probably a wash anyway.

If you have to drive and since you have a small personal car I would rent a full size and drive/ride in comfort.

Last time I went to DamItaly, we flew out of Lexington to Atlanta.....sat in the plane 4 FOUR hours before we left for Paris. (Mechanical problem.) Landed in Paris....over 200 people on the plane had missed their next flight. We made the Venice flight by 5 minutes.
Then. French customs were a nightmare.
THIS time flying out of Cincy to New York and straight in to Venice.

I can't afford the HiClass seats like Wildcat, lucky to make the cheap ones.

Don't be surprised if you have a delay out of NYC. Any little bit of weather and expect one. Or, just because it's New York.

In October we drive to west Canada to Duck hunt. First day we leave Frankfort at 6 clock am. And make Fargo N.D. that night around 10 30 and stay. LONG Drive. Next day leave around 7 am get to our hunting spot around 8 that night. LONG DRIVE. But after 11 days of hunting it is a LONG TIRED DRIVE for home. So we break it down in 2 and a half days for home.

I bought a new truck every other year to make those long trips in. Our usual pattern was, We would leave NW Indiana at around 4 am, make it to Alexandra Mn and spend the night, cross into Canada then drive to Brandon, Mb spend the night again in the Redwood Inn, had a nice indoor pool and hot tub. Get up early next day hit up Robins donut shop eat and finish the 1224 mile at Cowen, Mb or Pine River, Mb. Reason for stopping in Brandon, Mb was where we could drive thru Riding Mountain NP and see all the wildlife. Lots of Elk and Moose right along the road at first light, interesting park to travel thru. Not many guys can honestly say they drag raced a bull moose along the shoulder of the road...LOL. I have video of that someplace. We won because the moose gave up after 1/4 mile. Get to destination about 2 pm that afternoon. We did a straight thru drive home once but that was with 3 drivers but never did that again. The first time up we drove to Brandon, Mb straight thru and that was rough on even 3 guys Other times we stopped for the night in Fargo, ND on the way home. On the trip I took the wife with we did the Fargo stay and then again at the Wisconsin Dell's Super 8 motel by the Hochunk Indian casino for the night and lost some money only because the wife wanted to. My buddy and his son came in and ate then kept headed south. Son was not old enough to be in casino at 18 years old. But they let him visit the buffet but stay off the gaming floor, we thought that was nice of them and after 5 days on the road and 7 days hunting we found out a 18 year old can put away some grub. I would say they lost money feeding him...LOL.
When we did the 3 man trips I had my truck bed two tiered with a cap on it so one guy was always back there sleeping or chilling out except at the Border and that park area. Important stuff like guns and bows went under the bed and I pulled a new 5x8 trailer I bought just for those trips for all the coolers and other hunting stuff , Also had a blow up intertube deal that went between truck slider window and cap slider window so we could heat or cool the area under the cap.

They let you in there (Canada) with your shotguns?

The worse drive I've ever been on is to Maine. There's really no way to get there easy. Driving from west to east thru NY is longer than driving thru GA to get to FL. There's no direct driving way to get to Maine and flights (at the time) are ridiculously expensive...not to mention the number of lay overs. Worse than bus stops and about as frequent.

The only good things about Maine is the "cheap" lobster, cool July/August nights and the funny faces I get when I play up my accent.

This^^^! We had to sit on the runway for 3 hours at JFK one time and wasn’t even supposed to go there. Storms in Atlanta caused our early flight to be cancelled and they rerouted us 4 hours later. We were flying into Mexico City and the delay in NY caused us to miss our flight from Mexico City into Puerto Vallarta. We had to spend the night in the airport in Mexico City. It was some scary stuff! Couldn’t hardly find anyone who spoke English and people asleep all over the place. That was my only experience with NY and it was enough. Plus people at JFK were rude and would literally shove you all over the place. I about turned into Woody and Keiffer from The Cowboy Way and kicked some arse!

YES you just pay a fee I think 20 dollars a gun you bring. I take my 12 and my 10. They don't frown on long guns. But don't try a pistol.
