Yep it wont be long now with current soil temps. I have found them this early before. May go look this weekend in one of my best spots just to see. Usually find them on hill sides that get morning sun and around cedars and poplar trees. But have found them in a variety of places.

Soil temps have been running between 55-60 degrees for the past 3 days in Warren county and 53-58 degrees in Hardin. It usually takes 4-5 days in a row with ground temps like that to make them pop. I'll be checking a spot or 2 this weekend.

I have had writers block for almost 6 months. Something these mushrooms can help with?

Maybe a briefcase of narcotics and a weekend trip to Vegas could help you out.

I just rode around the road going to check one of my favorite spots and their was a truck parked not far from where I was going to check. When I came back around a man and woman was coming out of the woods. They were looking to see if any had come up yet. They didn't find any but I can see I will have to go check early mornings just to be able to beat others to them. They were looking where I find some every year. Must have seen me in there last spring

I have had that work both ways so i cant complain. But it always suck to see a truck parked in your spot. Alot of the spots i have are public land and or places that landowners let other hunt morels as well and its a first come first serve. I usually find most of mine early before the rest of the folks think its worth even going and looking.

I havent tried them this way but it does look good. We just cut them in half, flour them, then just fry them in veggie oil. Never wasted one that i know of. They are ate almost as fast as the come out of the skilley at my house. Ha

It wouldn't bother me near as much if the others around here would actually go hunt for them. They will ride the road every year and just look for where others are at. Most times I will park my truck in one spot and walk through the woods to where I am going. The good thing though is while squirrel hunting I find lots of places that look like they have good potential. Most of the more hunters around here are like road hunters they to lazy to get far from the road. I have to admit though I have hit spots where I have seen others parked
