10 inches in Wolfe co. Shew I'm done with this BS.
No shrooms here for a while
Im guessing atleast another week or two before anyone finds any. I live right on the south central ky/tn line. An have some good early spots. An i havent found jack yet. This cold and snow will slow things down. But atleast the snow is keeping the ground moist. I wish it would hurry up and get here. But years that we get alot of rain and snow before they come up always seem to be the best. They will come just gotta give them time.
I agree with Holland. It's starting to look like a more traditional timeframe for them to pop and I wouldn't have thought this 2 weeks ago. Adequate moisture is a must and snow in particular is really good. It doesn't runoff like a heavy rain and it also will flatten the leaf litter which will help to make the smaller morels easier to see. There have been some finds in GA, Alabama, Missouri and Okla so it starting to happen.
I just came back from Florida. I’d bet money they finding them in Georgia. Big difference in the woods from there to here. Even Chattanooga area was starting to green up.
One confirmed find in southwest Mo yesterday
I knew that using some of the black hardwood mulch would help to warm up the soil but I didn’t expect this result.
I think those may be a bit past eating. Seem a little dried up already!! LOL
I ruined a good knife trying to cut these 2!
What’s the soil temps running?
Guys my wife showed me this pic that was posted on fb today in knott co. It could have been an older pic and someone just trying to fool everybody, idk. Seems awlful early and cold I would think but I guess it's possible. If got a spot where I find these greys at. Easy to get to. I'll check it tomorrow.
I don’t believe that those could be this year’s picks. Way to early in Ky for those this season. Those are the last variety of the morels to pop.
I know regions are dif. And it just seems early for any sort. But I have found those small greys early in knott co. But I'm go check a spot later today that produces that type. Maybe a wild goose chase lol
Someone I work with found some today. I checked one spot today. Nothing
Im going to go out if nothing else for fun.. though Ive lost my good spots due to property sell off.. Now Ill be shooting in the dark..
You know whats funny, in my holler between me and my wifes family we own about all of it.. No one has ever found a mushroom in this holler.. Ever to my knowledge.. Looks like a great place but there just isn't any.. Im not the only one that's looked so I know its not just me.. Odd..
