Been watching every day for past week or so. Probably harvest some soon.
Chicken of the woods.
I to have been watching a spot I drive past each day, expecting a "chicken" to sprout. It appeared two days ago. Stopped and gathered enough for a meal last night.
How much do you take?
LOL..glad someone knows which ones to pick and ones not to pick. Myself I would be in the latter group and eat something that would make me see little green men everywhere.
I took about a third of what was up, a good skillet full.
It easy to gather more "chickens" or "hens" and put in frig or freezer than we will consume.
Whats the name of that fungus? Good pics to help identifiy them a bit better?
Yeah that pic sucks. I'll take a better one this afternoon. I plan getting some of it. That is sulpher shelf. Or chicken of the woods.
Can you freeze them for later use if you collect a large one? I picked one last year that was huge. Cooked a good deal of it but didn't want to eat it every meal, lol. It started not tasting as good after a few days and we pitched the rest.
Will they turn orange when they mature? Maybe they are orange already but I can't really tell.
As promised a better pic. I'm not sure on the freezing part. I'd say so.
What's these mushrooms taste like,only mushrooms I've ever eat are morels.And how do you fix to eat
I'm wondering this too. Been working with some guys that were talking about this earlier this week and was wondering how you prepared it. Same as morels?
I find a lot of them but have never ate any of them.
