It appears that three wildlife commissioner positions are open for election by the sportsmen. 1st District with Terry Tietloff is one that is up for grabs and I want to talk about Vernon Anderson who is running for that position.

Vernon is a retiree from KDFWR and was involved in many of the positive actions for sportsmen while he was employed.

He h stood p or expanded hunting opportunites and against the corruption.

Hopefully he gets the votes ad then s chose by the Matt Bevin!

There will be 6 new Commissioners of the total of 9 by the end of summer. 3 of the current commissioners chosen by Beshear, being Gary Greene, Voncel Thacker, and Chris Godby were not confirmed by the Senate in this past session so they no longer serve. Coming up are the terms of Teitloff (1st District), Jimmy Bevin (5th District) and Steve Glenn (6th District) all reach the end of their term limits and can no longer serve after August. So all 6 of these Districts will go through the selection process and have their names given to the Governor. Bevin will then choose someone from each District and they will begin serving immediately, but however if the Senate in the next legislative session does not confirm any of the Governor's choices, then the process for that particular District will begin again. State statutes require no more than 5 of the 9 can be from one political party. Until this Gov. took office, there were 2 Republicans, 5 Democrats, and 2 Independents.........interesting that the Independents had previously been registered as Democrats until prior to the selection process.

Thanks for the info. How does one get nominated for the voting. Any requirements? Just curious.

Anybody who lives in the district that has purchased a hunting or fishing license the last 2 years can attend and vote or be nominated.
