LOL good luck!!!
Pass on him? I wouldn’t. He is ripe for the picking
I figured I'd scout another farm we have since my son will be at the spot where DD is at. I found a couple scrapes that were fresh that morning and several rubs...a couple new bucks to take a look at. The one deer with the weird rack was nicknamed "Funky". We had him 2-3 yrs ago at our house and he never showed the following year. Now, we get him on camera a mile away. Not the best scoring buck, but he's unique and he has to be 5-6 yrs old....
Definitely starting to see a change in DD's neck size. His running buddy, the nice 10pt, finally shed his velvet....the other running buddy, the big 8 rarely comes around anymore...
Dang it what are you feeding the D-BOL? Two brutes for sure!
Well, what can I say other than ya gotta love it when a plan comes together. We wait all year for opening day and wouldn't ya know it, the wind was going to be a problem. We had it figured DD was going to come from the south and they were calling for N-NE winds which would put DD right through my son's scent cone if the wind stayed NE. My son has 2 days a week to hunt due to his work schedule, PLUS, this weekend was the the "red moon times" for deer movement. So, we put his hunting clothes in the Scent Crusher closet along with all of the things he'd wear underneath of his hunting clothes. Left them in there 30mins and we put his hunting clothes in the bag afterwards. He took a scent shower and headed out to hunt. He got to the tree around 5:00pm, pulled his bow up and placed his ozonics blowing SW to cover any possible human odor. I know I'll get beat up for the use of an ozonics and scent crusher products, but we know they work for us and this situation is exactly why we use them. About 7:25 DD steps out of the woods into field and starts walking N about 15-18yds from the fence row my son is setting in. He never breaks stride other than to look at the combine running beans 300-400yds to the W. He walks right through my son's scent cone and stops about 15yds to my son's left, no shot. He walks another couple yds N and stops and he is now at 18yds quartering away. My son shoots and the rest is history. DD ran N about 60yds and jumped through the fence row and went about another 60yds to where you see him laying in the pictures. When we walked up on him, the emotions were running high to say the least. My son's biggest deer to date, both rack wise and body size. Needless to say we had a heck of time getting him back to the fence row because we didn't want to damage the hide because I'm going to do a full body mount. We finally got him loaded up and back to the house. We had 3yrs of history with this deer and 100's of pictures over that time. This will be one that's gonna be hard to beat.. This ones for you Eddy
Awesome Buck! Congrats!
Thanks for sharing. Glad you guys were able to make it happen despite a less than ideal situation.
It's rare a buck actually looks bigger on the ground then in trail cam pics.
