Old Punksatawny Phil did not see his shadow, so we still have 6 more weeks of winter according to the calander. I don't trust his prediction of the weather, he is a groundhog, not a meteorologist.

Don't know a lot about ground hogs, do they hibernate in the winter?

Ground hogs do hibernate, however, that usually ends near the last weeks of January and early February as their breeding season starts...

Also the breeding season for skunks so it is about to become a really effervescent few weeks...

The skunk smell would make your eyes water on my front porch last night. It was so strong you could taste it. I am hoping my tom cat is not in a bi-racial relationship.

I asked because there used to be a couple that hung out on the hill in front of the outback in Richmond, I hadn't see them in a while. The were kind of like the welcome to Richmond mascots.. lol

If a ground hog stuck his head up here,he would see his shadow, sun shinning here, pretty.

Not sure but I have always thought the groundhog deal was if they seen their shadow it ment 6 more weeks of winter not the other way around. The weatherman here said looks like we may have a early spring and it is cloudy as heck here this morning.

That groundhog is probably more accurate than most meteorologists.

If a groundhog stuck his head up around my place it would have crosshairs on it and he would not know what tomorrow brings
Most destructive little critters. I absolutely hate them

between a ground hog, or a meteorologist, flip a penny. next time a Phil gets on the property, cross hairs are in motion. What do meteor's an weather have in common? no wonder the weather forcasters are confused..
