Sorry for the lengthy post but here it goes. When my son ( left handed ), was 11 I bought him a bow. We started shooting but he could never group arrows and said he just wanted to gun hunt. Fast forward to this year, almost 16, and he decides he wants to start shooting again. This could not have come at a worse time for me and my wife financially. I didn’t have the extra cash to buy him a bow. My older son, who is right handed, allowed him to try and shoot his PSE. I was amazed at how determined he was and how well he shot right handed. A little shaky at first but continued to practice and got better and better. He brings out our 3D target and we start slinging arrows and get out to 30 yds and he did really well. I told him to keep practicing and maybe I could take him out. 2 weeks ago I put him in a stand and I went and watched a green field not far away. Had a big doe come across field and head right toward him. Well, he took a 35 yd shot at her and hit her but gut shot her. We never found her. He was So upset. Tonite he went out with a friend who has been letting him hunt there property. I was not able to go. I texted him and said 20 yds or less. He called my phone and my wife answered and I knew he had shot one. I told my wife to let me talk!! Lol. I talked him through how to start tracking her. Sent me a pic of his arrow and said there was good blood and easy to follow. He field dressed her and got her home all by himself and did a pretty good job for his first without dad around. We deboned and got meat on ice. So proud of him. He has the fever and I said welcome to the club. Sorry for the long post but I’m am on cloud 9 right now and it’s 1:00 in the morning. Lol. I will post some pics when his friend sends them to me. Oh And his shot was 32 yds. Said he didn’t want me to get upset with him until he found her. Here is a pic of the doe. Shot was right on the mark.
