Well my wife and I are thinking about moving to KY. Only problem is we don't really know the area to good. We want somewhere where I have a good job opportunity. (I have a BS in Business administration) The other thing is we want somewhere where there is a good opportunity for the known KY whitetail deer :) and maybe someplace where we can buy some property to hunt on. Well any suggestions???

    Hopkins Co., Ky..
Well, I live in Hopkins county, and There are many places to hunt even if you don't have your own land. We have White City WMA, and Peabody the Next county over. There have been some mighty big deer killed here, one last year went about 180 B&C. It probably would be a great idea to go to the Ky. Dept. of fish and wildlife website. They have it broken down by county and by weapon, how many deer have been taken in Kentucky over the last several Years. As far as a job, I am not sure. We are in two different professions, (I am a Paramedic), so I can't help you there. Good luck!

As far as the deer part of your question, you can go to and check out the deer harvest logs.... it will specify by county, or all county , bow ,black powder, modern gun...west ky, pretty much god's country to me. Just my 2 cents

You never get the chance to shoot from the couch or the coffee shop.

If it were me I would find the job first, then after renting for awhile start looking for a farm. Any place in KY (where you can find a job) will put you fairly close to deer country.

    Boone County
Josh, may I suggest you check out northern Ky. {Boone,Kenton,Campbell counties}.Boone co is just exploding with new homes. Very low crime rate. Numerous factories and large companies.Greater Cincinnati airport is in Boone co. Pro sports is right across the river.Same for casino boats in Indiana. The deer population is tremendous!! All of northern Ky. is zone 1 for deer which is the most liberal for deer harvest. You should be able to purchase some land in some of the neighboring counties such as Grant,Pendleton,Gallatin which all have heavy populations of deer. Hope this helps. Good luck, jerry.

Where ever you move... you can call home! Where ever you call home... there will be plenty of NICE deer. After you get done hunting... You will find work. The question is... How far do you want to drive to work? Anywhere in Kentucky you can find all the above. Good luck whatever you do, and welcome here!!!
