Hope everybody is having a good season. I was able to bag one bird this year, but hunted very hard to do so. my son has not bagged one yet. alot of hunters in my area have had a bad season. we got plenty birds in my area, but these mild winters and temps warmer in the last two weeks of march is causing these birds to get started earlier. the season needs to come in the first week of april. what do you guy think

Then we will have a stretch of cold weather. And everyone will be saying it needs to be two weeks later. Leave it be.

I already hear complaints of henned up birds in early season. I don't see it coming in earlier would make it any easier. Plus the birds need the time to breed before they get slaughtered. Turkey hunting isn't a guarantee. It's frustrating much of the time but it sure is fun.

I'll trust the professional biologists. Not disgruntled hunters...:D

    Not so sure about that.

    Spring harvests have been good.
30,900 birds taken 2017 so far.
    31,049 birds taken 2016.
    24,319 birds taken 2007.
    18,243 birds taken 2000.

Tough season for sure but imo its a crap shoot every year. I just think our numbers are down some in Barren...not a season date issue. Went to A neighboring country and had birds everywhere and was lucky enough one came too close.

No, just no. In this part of the state the season comes in about perfect and ends a little early imo.

Season is fine the way it is. Turkey hunting isn't suppose to be easy.

This argument has been going on for years. KDFWR and NWTF Ky Chapter will say you're crazy. I've said from the first year I ever hunted turkeys that the season was a little late. So we can have gun season for deer during the rut but we won't start turkey season earlier due to fear of hens not being bred? This is the primary reason they give and it doesn't make sense. Strange logic. Regardless, it's nice to be out there chasing them.
