It turned out to be a great weekend of hunting despite the hot weather on Saturday. My oldest boy and myself hunted Saturday morning and evening. We seen several deer and he got to see his first buck fight / sparring match. It was pretty neat. My youngest was hunting with my brother and they seen a couple of does and turkeys on Saturday. None of us seen a deer Sunday morning. The front started coming in hard about 4:00. My dad and my oldest son went and sat on an oak flat. They seen 10-12 doe and 1 small buck. My youngest son and me got in our ground blind on the food plot we put out. He killed a doe off of that food plot the week before with his crossbow so he got his first with a crossbow off of his bucket list. The wind was swirling something bad and we had already been busted by a small spike. Two doe had shown up and did not hang around long. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, this buck shows up downwind from the blind at 10 yards. He walks directly in front of us and I hand my boy the gun. I hold the trigger stick as he puts the gun on the cradle. He made his shot at 15 yards. The buck heads up the hill wide open but packing a leg so I knew he was hit hard. After a 60 yard recovery, my son had his buck in his hands. He was shaking like a leaf in the wind and I wasn't far behind him. We couldn't believe that it happened that fast. It has been a great year for my family so far! Truly Blessed!
