There's a lot of larger / older bucks in KY now the way it is. The problem is people don't really know how to find them, but they are there. I actually see more big bucks in December than I do in November.
I don't think changing the gun season will make a difference.
Bought a Stoeger 12ga semi auto last year. Love it. I've been duck hunting for years with a Remington 870 12ga pump and wanted a semi auto with a longer barrel. My youngest son has used a stoeger for years, he likes them also. great guns in my opinion.
Last year, or the year before (I can't remember which), they estimated the deer population on the KY side at about 10 deer / sq mile. On the TN side they estimated 20 / sq mile.
We run alot of trail cameras over there. The difference between the KY side and the TN side was amazing. Also the...
I hunted all over the KY side for years. About 3 years ago, when they took away the bonus tag, we went to the TN side. We found about twice as many deer and a lot more big ones down there. That's where I'll be spending my time at LBL.
I bought a crossbow a couple years ago. Killed a doe with it but nothing since. I'll hunt with almost anything, compound, crossbow, rifle of muzzleloader. Depends on where I'm hunting. Never hunted with a pistol, don't care to. I just like killing deer. It's all exciting to me.
Don't worry, they come back home at some point. Both of our boys joined the military after high school and got sent to the other side of the planet. After we got over them being gone, they came back home. The oldest first and then the youngest. We felt bad for thinking "They need to move on!"
