I do not understand how that’s gonna give them meaningful feedback. Horribly low pool of data.
I know where some banded birds are.
I think they are wanting to see if some of the birds survive and how many years they survive. They check overall health of the birds.

Based on the Ky Afield episode, they want to know what percentage of birds are killed. Their sample is way too small to have any meaningful relevance

I know they have banded birds in several places and not just a spot or two in several different counties.

Never seen a banded bird. But if i seen a bird on one of my places my first thought anymore would be someone tranplaneted it. I seen a young turkey leaving for work a few months ago. An i was fired up. Told my wife about it etc. Came home seen it again. I thought something was up. Long story short it was a neighbors new pet. He now sleeps like a dog in there yard. Funny and sad at the same time. I live 15miles from the nearest town and my road dead ends in barren river. Use to have turkeys everywhere. Wasnt even a challange to tag out. Hope there study works but like others i dont see how it will.

In my area I have seen little to no birds. Places along interstate and side roads where you seen birds out there was none.
May need to drop the fall hunting and gobbler limit to one bird.

Have talked about this with several biologists across the SE. They think it can yield significant data. Other wise they would not be doing it. I think in Tn the banding was started some years ago. They spread the banding across the state , as KY I doing now.

They are banding jakes if possible in the fall. They want to see how long this bird lives, and what the non hunting mortality is, among other things. Like how far they travel. I killed banded bird in TN last spring. Had been banded ten miles from kill spot. Was two plus years old.

Any data is better than the guessing game that has somewhat been done in last decades. IMO.
