Black Friday/Nov 25th Roll Call

I almost went back to bed this morning but I decided to grind it out. I don’t think I’ve ever killed a deer in the rain but I can now mark that off my list! He’s no giant but he’s more than that to me! I think I’ve hunted harder this year than I ever have. Thank you Lord for giving us the opportunity to enjoy your creation. There’s just something about deer hunting that drives me crazy but at the same time no matter how bad it gets I just can’t quit!!

Finally seen a good buck chasing this am. First of the gun season. Doe stopped at 30 to my right but he kept trucking at Mach 5. Couldn’t stop him. Hopefully he circles or comes back searching this evening.

I’ve noticed from your post this year that you’re hunting several times but not seeing much. Years past I recall you seeing several. You not hunting same place as in past or are numbers down in your area?

Tagged two does this morning. They weren’t moving to good this morning so I had to do some still hunting to find them.

Babysittin duty again today. But me and the baby just smoked another one off the deck with the crossgun. Trail cam BARELY missed the shot. Even set it to video before, hoping to catch it. Let the baby get her nap in, and we'll go pick her up lol. 18 month old has been on more recoveries than the majority of grown men I know.

Got a $162 water bill in the mail Wednesday, putting in a new water line between the meter and house today, majority of the old line is six feet deep or deeper. Never fails, get a break from work and something blows up. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

I got into my stand in the pitch black.

Saw one doe way off. Then had 14 doe in a parade come 30 yards from the stand. They were looking behind them and acting crazy. I knew it wasn’t me, perfect wind….. finally a little fawn came busting into the field with a coyote hot on her trail, he caught acute lead poisoning. I let him lay.

The hunter became the hunted. Scaredest I’ve ever been in my life.

30 minutes later had a decent 10 point come in slow at 25yds. I did some quick math and gauged it at a high 130” and put a bead on his shoulder for practice and let him walk.

Then the doe came back. Avoided the coyote. After an hour with no further sightings I grabbed the coyote and am heading to lunch and moving spots. “I was packed for all day sit but that spot smells like coyote guts”.

Don’t worry. I took the collar off so I wouldn’t be like that lady on Facebook.

Thanks! Looking at him I found a puss spot on his back and thought he might have been hired by another buck but skinning him out it ended up being a broad head. It was lodged in his spine, I don’t know how it didn’t paralyze him.
