I’m in no way a taxidermist, but seems as though any great looking cat mount I’ve ever seen is all about the face and eyes (anatomically). To each their own as to what anyone thinks looks like good cat taxidermy. Certainly we all see things differently no matter what the animal. In my opinion, here are some great looking Bobcat mounts ...

I’am going to try to enlighten you a little as to why Bobcats are rather tricky in Mounting. What I say here is my own opinions only!
The EYES are the MIRROR of the Soul! Think about where the eyes are located. On a Bobcat they have frontal vision & on a deer for instance it’s on the side of the face. I believe that if you know how to read Live Photo references looking for proper contour shape Thickness such as eye lids & color combinations a Taxidermist Sh be able to mount a fairly descent Bobcat. But, I all boils down to EXPERIENCE! As you know the more familiar you become with something the better you get at it.
I think sculpting the eyes are the most Critical aspects of forming the eye. How much clay & how thick & at what angle do I want to get that eye sculpted. Next is when actually Mounting the skin around you’re sculpting & tweaking in into proper shape for a couple days.
Eyes on a Bobcat or the pupil is almost vertical compared to a Deer which is totally horizontal to the ground. Well these are a few of the points as to why a Bobcat is interesting in Mounting. Attached are a few photos depicting the eye angle on each. Also, some of my favorite live Bobcat References. Happy New Years to ALL!

I would say getting the fur the correct shape and orientation on the cheeks is another common area that's tough to get right

This is my cat from a few years back. It was done by Alicia Love in Hardin County. I think she did a great job with it. I shot this during winter shotgun turkey season and blew all the whiskers off of it on the left side. She told me that she could do some stuff to fix it but I asked her to leave it like it is because it made for a good conversation about how it was killed. I shot her at 8 steps with 3.5 inch turkey loads.

I've been looking for an affordable mount of a housecat for months with no luck at all. I'd love to have one for my Halloween display which seems to get bigger & bigger every year. I'm not picky about the color, style of mount, or condition, and frankly the stranger the better. Does anyone have such an item? Thanks!

Ill add that many bobcats, just aren’t good specimens. People shoot them, and get them mounted because its the only one they ever had an opportunity to kill and they just aren’t ever going to look like the one’s CHL posted regardless of taxi skill. The few I’ve seen up close wouldn't make good mounts or were far away/happened to fast to get a good look at them. But i have yet to see one live that i was certain would be a good mount.

For expert advice I'll refer you to the Bobcat mount by Haves from years ago. Not THAT'S a rare and classic mount! It's in a class by itself. Trust me.
