I believe so. I didn't read the book but I've heard this is what it is about.

Drew Thornton with about 100 pounds of coke strapped to his body when he parachuted out of a plane somewhere close to Knoxville. And he kicked out two or three duffel bags full of coke before he jumped. As I recall, speculation was that his body weight plus the weight of the cocaine was too much for the parachute.
