How does the money get distributed for habitat for quail ?

I have seen the USDA has programs out for Quail habitat improvement but when I ask them about it they say that it is only toward fencing along creeks and that provides habitat for quail .

Fencing along creeks is fine but I don't see that as being a good habitat solution .
Creeks flood habitat is gone
Creeks have Minks , coons and a more population of snakes , I know they are everywhere but why give them a closer food source .

When I bought my farms I leave or make food plots for quail . I never let them get hunted by me or anyone . Ever since I have been doing this ( with no tax dollars ) I have been seeing a lot of adult quail .I have also seen several ,over 25 coveys with large amounts of little ones in each hatching , young coveys that is.

One time I saw a new bunch in my road at a cattle guard . when I came back . I got out of my truck and sure enough there was little baby quail down in the cattle guard that could not make it out . I picked all those little fellows out and their mother was still there peeping away .

But what I have seen is most farm owners want their land all mowed down and looking pretty . I don't do that I leave some land and never mow it just for quail .

In short I think that the USDA could do more than just fencing off their creeks and supply some farmers with a incentive to make larger fields available for wildlife .

A QF chapter has say over how the funds they raise are spent provided they are used for habitat work or youth hunting initiatives. That is funds above the cost of membership dues. All dues money goes back to QF. Everything else the chapter decides how to spend.
