Love those Contenders. I got one around 1976, 2 10" barrels, a 30-30 and a 44 mag with Hot-Shot barrel. I still have it and couple of boxes of the Hot-Shot Cateridges. I have shot squirrels with it.

so I built this new box blind out of pallet wood and it's sitting in the drive way. Today after the rain stopped and the neighbor stopped running around. About 7:30 all was quite so I grabbed the Contender and thought I would sit in it and watch the sink hole in the field behind the house. After 30 mins this big female appeared and fell victim to the 6mm TCU.

Very nice!!! Match Grade Machine makes great stuff. They’ve got some great videos on YouTube. Anyway, I’ve 3 or 4 of the fattest groundhogs you’ve ever seen that live on my creek bank. I feed them and enjoy watching them. One has 3 legs and looks to have been born that way. One is very blonde.

it wasn't no 90 degrees out Saturday but I still put my summer blind set up out to keep out of the sun and hide enough to may be get a shot at a crow. This put me out about 75 yards from my most productive kill spot.

perfect distance for doing my small caliber work.

And it usually doesn't take long for things to settle down to get a shot off.

Sunday I mounted on the 22 Long Rifle barrel and went out for a little stalking practice. Seen my limit in squirrels but only managed to get this one. Still to many leaves for a low power pistol scope.

Thanks Jimmy.
Last week during the warm up I got the 6mm TCU out and was shooting it at 175 yards. Nice day but windy needed to fireform some more brass anyway. Next warm day I will shot the 6mm PPC out at 200 yards. Ground hogs will start popping out soon.

Sunny's a good guy. We have traded back and forth for a few years. Talked to him a couple of times on the phone he's getting into bullet casting. To bad he lives on the west coast.

Got an SSK 14" Bbl in 6x223 that some machinist just had to turn the front 9" to about 1/2" from a guy in WVA
The turning removed the front barrel dovetail which offered challenges.
SSK 6x223 Bbl.jpg

Had to dress it up to hide it's shame and fashioned this full length free-floating forearm

Should perform on par with it's brother the 6TCU
Can't wait to see your 2023 field photos, Thanks!

I hope turning the barrel down that thin didn't effect the accuracy. Looks like a mini M1 carbine.
I had a hard time at the neighbors this year between cows showing up every time I tried to hunt and the field not being cut mid summer.
But in mid September they finally bush hogged so I got out one more time before deer season. Got these three with the 6mm PPC SSK experimental barrel. They are came from a different structure on the opposite side of the field. The one shot from this barn was 115 yards. 9ne can from a collapsed shed further up the fence line about 134 yards. The last 9ne was take near another barn further up the fence line at about 175 yards. So 8 didn't get a chance to break the 200 yard mark this year but I will give it a good shot at it this coming spring. If I didn't kill are the breeding stock as they were all females.
