like the guys posted before always be aware of where your fingers are! I posted earlier this year that my day amputated his thumb while shooting at a deer. They put it back on and it seems to be doing ok. little crooked. He did hit the deer but was unable to find it, my son shot it the next weekend and dropped it with a muzzleloader, the arrow that dad had shot 7days earlier had went thru the neck. Crazy story but true!

Watch your fingers! I was letting a friends wife shoot mine. Was getting ready to tell her to watch her thumb .She pulled the trigger and pow hit the thumb. she did not cry but I was ready to.It turned blue quick.

Ky requires a working safety on crossbows used for hunting. Maintenance is a must for a crossbow, check limbs and wheels after each use. Use a silicone based lubed for wheels and rails, wax the string often, but not the servings. Essential on a crossbow, replace worn or frayed parts. These things are addictive so be aware of your equipment, and enjoy shooting.

Never shoot bent aluminum bolts (arrows) no matter if its barely bent, and never shoot damaged carbon bolts (arrows). they explode in all directions.

Guys these are all great safety tips and safety in the woods should be our first priority. If we follow these tips then each of will have a safe fun hunt. But there is one that hasn't been mentioned. Wear your safety harness when using a tree stand every year there are news reports of someone dying or getting seriously injured from a fall while hunting from a tree stand. Put it on and attach it to the tree from the first step going up until your feet are back on the ground. We owe it to our family and friends to come home after each hunt.
