Second groundhog of the year

Killed my first groundhog of the year Sunday, 414 yards. I missed one at about 375 on friday, misjudged the wind.

Where in the world do you find enough groundhogs to hunt these days. I use to hunt them all the time until the coyotes got here. Where I use to hunt the only place you can still find them is around barn yards. I sure miss hunting those little dudes. Good shooting by the way.

I've been seeing a few in the kudzu along the highway. One dude looked like a fencepost, he was so tall and lean. He'll fatten up nicely this summer, though.

I got another pig yesterday, this one was 391 yards.

#2, don't let the dogs size fool you, he killed and eaten every bear around.


This was taken standing over pig #1, the grey building on the hill is where my bench is set up.

I killed 6 last year out of the same den under my barn, thinking I had wiped them out. Wrong. Another one has cleaned out the entrance hole again already.
Guess I am in for some more target practice.

Ahhhhh the memories of the good days in Michigan! And this year is coming (Pic Heavy)

We kill 2-3 hundred in a year with our group shooting over bean fields and dikes.

Have a lot of good farmer friends up there from killing the Bean Munchers, Dike Devils, Rock Chucks, Whistle Pigs or whatever you call em.

One of my most favorite hunting trips every year!

Very nice. I've missed one twice at about 450 yards, it's hard to read the wind blowing off these hills. I did set my steels up and shoot them when it was reasonably calm and I may have something for him now .

I haven't seen but 5 or 6 ground hogs in the past 5 years. They are really down in my area, but starting to make a come back because I have seen a few this year so far. We used to hunt them all the time and it was a blast.
