First time night hunting coyotes, yee haw

Had a good time with some professional guys night hunting coyotes last night, was a very different experience from what I thought, made several sets got 4, very fast and efficient way to hunt them, show up set calls and get ready, was very fast and intense moments, im hooked, good call on KDFW for allowing this,

Thermal I believe, was all new to me, was easy to identify coyotes with it, I was amazed by it all.

It truly is a "Different World" out there at Nighttime. New set of problems and lot to learn but Nighttime is when they have their confidence up. They Think you can't see them.

Ive tried both. In tight like I hunt I’ve had my best luck in daytime. Rainy overcast days are where it’s at.

Night time I do best in open areas. The coyotes can see the shadows the lights cast on trees. They can’t see the light but they do see the shadows.

I really like night hunting with a thermal, tried lights yrs ago with a shotgun only went a few times and said screw it.
I like to hunt alone just me and my dog I've hunted with people before that took to many risky shots never contributed any spots to hunt and then tried to go back and hunt.
I watch alot of videos and see guys shooting toward houses and livestock, I'm not loosing my spots by shooting someone's dog or cows if in doubt I won't shoot but I'm sure I could easily make the mistake of shooting a dog and if it happens it will be on me!
I went last night didn't see a thing heard a pack a couple miles away was watching deer at 600 yrds with thermal you won't miss a thing that's out there.

I'd be very interested to try to learn from anyone that has info they can share about thermal / night scopes. I couldn't ever justify spending $5k - $10k on some top of the line equipment but surely there are "reasonably priced" options for those of us that would just like to try and keep our coyote "herd" in check without having to sell a kidney to do it.

What’s your definition of reasonably priced is the big question lol I have a thread on here about a night vision scope that’s in the 400 dollar range. I’ve ordered it but yet to receive it. Once I get to play with it I’d be willing to offer you a review but could not compare to others as I’ve never used any type of thermal or nv before. If you were close to me I’d let you check it out even. But I think if you got to hunt with a good thermal for a night you may be ruined lol

I think the way you justify it is in 2 years what can you sell it for? They seem to hold value well and it may make sense to sell them every few years so you don’t get stuck with one that is too outdated to sell.

I bought the Hogster 35 and later added a video recorder to it.
I believe it was 2,850 dollars great scope they Hava a Hogster 25 and another one less than, the 25 is 2,500 the other I believe is 2,000 but you get a smaller field of view and less base magnification.
The 35 is about perfect in my opinion and I'm sure there are more maybe even better options but I love mine.
