Last year did a little raised garden with my little girl. Didn’t plant until first of May. Did some romaine lettuce but was a flop. Was told I didn’t start early enough. I hadn’t messed with a garden since I was a kid and I’m admittedly out of touch. Is now the time for lettuce or midMarch? I’d like to have a little lettuce and broccoli this year. Other stuff did fine waiting until May and had peppers and tomatoes right through October.

Any time in March is great for lettuce. Will you use plants or start from seed?

For those more seasoned than I, what is the best all around potato for home gardens that is still relatively easy to grow? Figured I'd give potatoes a try this year but never grown them before so looking what variety I should start with. Really prefer something that's good all around (baked, mashed, fries, soup/stew, etc), but know that may not be a thing.

Any other tips for growing potatoes?
