Big players aren’t everyday miners. Not a dig toward what you posted. Just saying that what the company man says ain’t always what the working’ man does….or how he votes in this case. Smart coal operators play both sides actually. They also play their workers but that’s another story.
True....I'm just surprised they allowed their support to be used in a political ad. Something is definitely up with that.

You have to be a complete dumbass to support a party that is doing EVERYTHING they can to destroy your livelihood/profession. Libtard is a mental disease, it seems.

Having been a union member for more than fifty years, 1 yr Operating Engineers 5 yrs Teamsters and 45 years Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen Union, I know that they always have endorsed the Democratic party candidates because they were the ones who used to represent the working people. Remember when President Regan done away with the Air Traffic Controllers Union? I don’t know anyone who would vote for someone who would do away with their job. The Republican party was always the ones who supported the wealthy class business owners, but seems like now they’re the ones who are looking out for the interests of the working class people. President Clinton was the one who supported the selling out of the jobs in America. I’m a registered Democrat but that doesn’t mean I won’t support the Republican candidate for President, can’t remember the last time I voted for a Democratic candidate for President and I did voted for Ross Peroit. That being said I probably wouldn’t be drawing a third of what I do now if I hadn’t been a union member. So don’t knock the Union, many people died years ago for the right to have a Union. A lot of people have enjoyed a better life because of the Unions.

My dad was a United Rubber Workers member for 34 years and he hated Reagan with a passion for busting the air traffic controller’s union and R’s in general after that. He always said a man who packed a lunchbox to work and voted R was a damn fool but like I’ve said before, this ain’t your dad’s ‘rat party.

Having lived in Eastern Ky coal country most of my life I can remember when the United Mine Workers union was strong. I remember hearing people talk about how the men would go on “wildcat” strike and it would shut down the mines until they would settle the problem whatever it was, the mines were losing a lot of coal production and money. Eventually they would shut down the mines completely. Then other mines would open and pay their miners more than Union scale not to have a union and eventually the Union was forced out. Later on the union members couldn’t call a “wildcat “ strike it had to be a sanctioned strike by the union. I remember in the early 70’s the local Teamsters union in St Louis went on “ wildcat “ strike shutting down the trucking industry in town The trucking companys sued the Local and won. The local that called for the strike was forced to pay for their losses. I remember talking to some of the drivers and they had money taken out of their paychecks every week until it was paid off. After that any strike had to be sanctioned by the Teamsters union.

When I was a child in the 1970s the strikes at my dad’s plant were wild, they carried billy clubs and wrist rockets on the picket line. Truckers who tried to break the line got their truck tires flattened and worse. I remember the picketers turning over a state police cruiser with the trooper still inside once so they called in the National Guard. By the late 80s their union leadership had sold out the hourly workers and it was basically nothing more than a dues collecting agency as their contracts got weaker and weaker. By my ideological beliefs I’m anti-union now but it afforded me a nice childhood from a financial perspective.

That plant is long gone btw, everything was packed up and shipped to Mexico.

I've never been in a union but would have at one time if it meant getting a good job...it never really came up. I know they are associated with the D's and people say they keep up deadbeats etc...make things more expensive...and other negatives people throw out. They seem to work in the construction arena I guess?..IDK..I know several in them anyway. I've known several Ford guys in my lifetime that said the same as you so I suppose they were overall happy with it. It would be my initial thought knee jerk reaction to probably not care for them, however; The last hospital I left reorganized their PTO while I was there. I went in under one set of numbers...was 2 years past vested...left under the reorganized set of numbers and lost 2k on cash out. There is tooooons of that garbage that goes on constantly in healthcare and no doubt everywhere....I've hated the crooks I work for so bad for so long that I'd vote it in just to stick it in their eye. Management in healthcare spend their entire days trying to figure out how to get more blood out of the staffing turnip in any way possible, you know their lying to you when their lips are moving. They NEVER hold themselves accountable for anything they tell you. I quit going to meetings years ago.

I voted for one Democrat once...Jimmy Carter. The first time and last time I did that. Wasn't a big fan of 20% plus prime interest rates. The choice back in '76 was Gerald Ford. LOL However, I voted Libertarian instead of for Mitt "Magic Holy Mormon Underwear guy" Romney. In the end, the Libertarian guy I voted for wound up being insane.

I was a registered Democrat since 1975--I just never voted for them, except for Wendell Ford. He was a really good guy. Changed parties in 2019. My parents were registered Democrats since the FDR days. Dad changed that in 2019 and he was big in the Democrat party back in the day. He says the Democrats have lost their minds. They've lost more than that...their souls, unless they repent.

Not bashing “the union”, bashing folks voting for a group that has done everything possible to destroy the coal industry. Refusing permits, closing plants, etc, in my opinion is destroying our way of life.

Unions had their place in history, no doubt. Power corrupts! It’s been seen in most of the big unions. Sad because the actual workers get hosed, in my opinion.

Hope this clarifies my post.
