I did one years ago on a family vacation. Wife and kids wanted beach. I went fishing. You should not have any trouble booking a trip even if you book while you're there. Just go to where all the boats are parked and you'll find an eagar charter captain. I had a blast other than a slight queasy stomach from the waves. We went out pretty far. Couldn't see land anymore.
It was Panama city where I went. I just walked up to the dock, found a nice looking boat with the captain on it and booked a trip for the next day. If I could have afforded I'd of went every day. Waaaaay more fun than the beach. Also went diving. Dive shop gave us 4 hrs training one day and took me and my youngest son out to a reef. That was a blast.

I dont know of any charters, but I went to Gulf Shores for the first time last year and caught some nice speckled trout and flounder in Little Lagoon on the North side. Also caught some mackerel at Perdido pass on the jetty. Didnt have much luck surf fishing there. Also if you like steak, go to Rouse's market. Best cuts of meat I have ever seen.

I hate the beach too, but get terrible sea sickness, so it's shore fishing which is boring as hell. We are headed to Emerald Isle on the south end of the Outer Banks in July. Might try a lil crabbing on the bay side.

I'd always take dramamine (same as benedryll) I think. With that at least I can keep my lunch. As long as something is happening I'm fine but can't just kick back in a chair very long sitting still.

Anybody know a good fishing trip a man can take. Maybe a charter or something. I’m not much of a beach bum so I need ding a few activities to do while we’re there
Cant help you with the gulf shores but if your family likes fish, I like to charter a fishing trip (or even a party boat) the first day or two and eat what you catch the rest of the week supplementing meals with a local fish market. That way im not bringing a bunch home and saving some money on restaurant costs. We still go out to eat, just not every day. I would call around and ask what species they target at various times of the year, and what trips they offer and recommend. If you are not sure inshore vs offshore or half vs full day ask about that too. You’ll get a feel for the captains based on their responses. If you are talking to a bigger off shore ask them who to use for inshore and vice versa. I prefer to use a captain thats willing to return my inquiry call and have a conversation in advance. Wont book one on the fly anymore after a bad experience.

I’m actually going to surf fish for pompano and whiting now. A member here that’s also on the ky hunting Snapchat group has offered a ton of advice and said there’s a good chance I catch fish right at the condo. So I ordered some gear and we leave next Tuesday. I’d rather fish alone than on a boat with a bunch of strangers. So I got me some ten foot rod and reels. I got some 30 lb braid with mono leaders and I’m gonna give it a go. Just reminded me I need cut my 2 inch pvc rod holders and put them in with rest of my gear.

I’ m here now, but leaving in the morning. Left the kayak at home, but have been surf fishing at Ft Morgan. It was rough when I went but lots of hardhead cats and caught limits of pompano on 2 days. Pier was slow and boring to me, caught some nice whiting, saw a few nice trout and pompano caught. Only trout I hooked got chased by a shark into the piling and cut me off. Only good thing I can say about the pier is, I enjoy hanging with friends I have made over the years. Otherwise, not my cup of tea. Grew up in Florida and hung around piers as a boy, not the same after Sally took out part of the pier.

I'd recommend FishingBooker.com and, if you're prone to sea sickness, or if you're not wanting to spend $1k+, look into inshore fishing instead of deep sea.

With inshore you're casting and in control, deep sea is awesome for pictures but you're paying mostly for gas, and you're more "reeling in" than "fishing" in my experience.

I''ve used site Fishingbooker.com site twice (Fort Walton and Titusville). My only recommendation would be to choose someone with a good deal of reviews instead of just sorting by price.

Bonine is what I’ve always used to prevent sea sickness. It has never failed my wife or I. Heard about it before taking a cruise and had no issues. Also used it on several deep sea(10 - 12 foot swells) trips and it worked.

Good luck on your search. Have fun.
