Hatchery Creek

Who is responsible for maintenance of the Hatchery Creek stream below Wolf Creek Dam at Lake Cumberland? I ask only because, I recently visited the site to fly fish and found the trails alongside the creek to be completely grown up with head high vegetation. It made it impossible to traverse with a fly rod and nearly impossible to fish since any errant back cast would hang up in the weeds. I left after only 15min. That was a 3hr drive for nothing. We should post on the site to bring a machete if you plan to hack thru the jungle to go fish here.

Prior to Covid there were well maintained trails on both sides of the creek making access easy for old tired farts like me. Now it is useless.

Sad state we are in. Our public access areas could be maintained with a little organization, volunteers, and or inmate labor. Lack of leadership, creativity, and will to do a good job.

This is NOT a big job. Two college students working as a coop given weed scythes with one on each side of the creek so they cannot cut one another or talk and goof off much. Start at one end. When they get to the mouth of the creek, go back and repeat. Or, do the same with eight inmates once per month. I prefer the students. Less things to manage or go wrong. Not a big job to fix.
