If you have the hunter education card from West Virginia will it serve as your hunter ed for Kentucky as well or do you have to repeat the process for Kentucky?
Not official answer but pretty sure hunter safety in one state is recognized in other states. My boys hunter safety from Maryland is good in Ky, WY, NC, Tx, Az, NM, Ut, Nv, Mt, Iowa. Mine (from Maryland) is good for any state but only required for Colorado due to birthdate. If you have the hunter education card from West Virginia will it serve as your hunter ed for Kentucky as well or do you have to repeat the process for Kentucky?
Does anyone know what the process is for a 9 year old to check a deer in during youth season since they do not have a hunting license or a safety card. What info is needed ? Hope he gets the chance. Thanks for the reply, I thought it was reciprocal between states, just not sure.

Thanks, ironically his name is HunterGoogle Ky temporary hunter education exemtion permit. Children have a one year exemption to hunt with persons 18 or older without a hunter education. It used to cost $5. but I believe it has since been made free. You may not need it for the youth weekend but he will be able to hunt the entire season with the exemption.
You can only get exemption once. If he doesn’t need it I would save it in case there is another pandemic type situation when he tries to get it later.Google Ky temporary hunter education exemtion permit. Oops, guess my boys need to carry their cards to be legal. Odd the portal doesn't tie the HE number to each license they buy and be printed on their license.age 12 or older
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources' Hunter Education regulation requires anyone born on or after January 1, 1975 and age 12 or older to have a hunter education course completion card in their possession while hunting, as well as the appropriate Kentucky hunting license.
I’m pretty sure it’s null and void. The one time I got stopped he said he didn’t need to see it because it said on the printed license “has hunter completed HE? Yes” so that’s all he neededOops, guess my boys need to carry their cards to be legal. Odd the portal doesn't tie the HE number to each license they buy and be printed on their license.
