I want to end my argument all together and say that i wish the best for everyone with whatever method they choose i really don’t mind it doesn’t mean that much in the grand design. @predator1, @PUBLIC RAT ,@120+ and all the others honestly guys i hope for the best with your hunts and hope to see some success pics floating around on here. I respect everyone’s pov and i really do have a better understanding of how passionate some folks are for the use of crossbows. Best of luck to everyone.

You're new here so you don't know about the past arguments. I've always argued against those who say a crossbow is the same as a compound. It's not, plain and simple. The ability to be ready for a deer without holding at full draw is a huge advantage.
What I don't agree with is those who think their way is the way everyone should hunt. That's a democrats view. They think they know how you should live your life better than you do.

Do you hunt grouse?

No I don’t hunt grouse I don’t really have any grouse to try to hunt. I want you to know i was not saying my way is the only way if anything i really started out trying to lift people up and keep trying to live healthy. I’ve never used a compound or a crossbow so i broke my first rule in life, don’t knock it til you try it. So I apologize.

Too lazy to go back to your reply to me. Arthritis and bursitis aren’t something that you can overcome, short of surgery. I’ve had multiple injections in my shoulder, elbows, and wrists. It’s not fun, but allowed me to keep shooting my bow proficiently. I’m not going the surgery route just so I can keep bow hunting. Nothing else bothers it much so I’m thrilled with that.

I acknowledge your point sir. I was really trying to isolate the younger healthier guys out there that just give bow hunting a bad image. I’m glad to hear that you keep on keeping on. I would have went back to your post sorry for leaving you out my man

Apparently, he came on here and caused enough drama BS because people didn't give into his way of thinking and went to get more popcorn...
@nontypical2002
I hunt with a rife and ML also. In Indiana, only with a bow.
I’m not against crossbows, I just think their season should be shorter. Just like rifle is only a few weeks.
Time and place for everything.
Not to stir the pot again, I just don’t think it should come in so soon.

I have my own opinion on xbows, just like y’all do. I’m not gonna change ur mind, ur not gonna change mine.
Doesn’t mean I don’t respect ya as a fellow hunter.

I killed my bull in 2012 with my bow at 55 yards. It wasn’t a stick bow. Lol.

I hunt with everything. I just hate to see folks dissuaded from using a crossbow before they try it or being ashamed of their kill or feel like they need to make excuses because they wanted to use one. I didn’t kill a deer last year with xbow but it was on my list of things to do. Don’t be ashamed. It’s legal, it’s fun and it’s effective.

The argument that it’s going to wipe the deer out is laughable. TV hunters have seen to that. I know guys that haven’t killed a single deer in 3 years that have been passing on 150’s so they have something to be “proud of”. Their money still helps KY FnG. People that kill 5+ a year and buy extra tags are few. Last year at one point I accounted for %10 of all deer killed in my county 😅

I know its not going to wipe the herd off the map. But i see your point and never really looked at it that way people passing on deer and such but i only mentioned all of this because i think it COULD BE a slippery slope if left unchecked. I love seeing people enjoy hunting i apologize for presenting my case in a negative way. You guys are a great bunch sorry to stir the pot so hard. I don’t believe in shaming anyone for any reason when it comes to hunting didn’t mean to come off like that

You don’t consider questioning someone’s motives as to why they hunt differently from you as entitlement? What entitles you to question someone that you don’t pay for their expenses or cost of living? Never once did I call for a 24/7, 365 season. I said that if you are allowed to be out there with a bow on your property. Why can’t @120+ be on his property with a rifle? Or @jblack1 be on his a muzzleloader? Following the season limits of 1 buck and basically unlimited does will not decimate herd numbers anymore than the last several hundred years have.

Are you aware that there is a reason why rifle season is three weeks long, and archery season is five months long. It’s because the success rate of bow hunters has less impact on the herd than the success rate of rifle hunters.

A large part of the tags sold in a season go unfilled. If you could use any weapon you like even if you follow bag limits that will equal higher success rates which will lead to shorter seasons.

If you do not believe this to be true than please read the regulations for zone 4 counties with lower deer density.

I have not questioned anyones motives. I assume we all have the same motive to enjoy our time afield and harvest whitetail deer.

But when we reach a 100 percent success rate you can bet seasons will be shorter. And less time equals less opportunities for all hunters.

Laws and regs are in place to ensure longevity of the herd not for every hunter to be successful.

I understand your concerns. They just aren’t reasonable. We will never hit 100% success rate. If that was even possible, it still wouldn’t happen. There are plenty of hunters such as myself that gladly eat tag soup because we won’t settle for any and every deer. Then factor in the bow hunters, crossbow hunters, and firearm hunters that can’t hit the broadside of a barn with a shovel full of rice, the herds are safe from decimation. At the rate we’re losing hunters because of land access, and expense. Deer numbers will be just fine.

Backing up to a 30,000 Foot view the land access is the biggest threat, i guess even more so then those Xbow killers. Just teasing don’t shoot lol 🤣
