Is it time to make Xbow season the same ?

It’s not about that. The point of archery season being so long is because it is harder to harvest with a bow as you make it easier with technology and the success rates go up you will have to to shorten the season. Technology is simply replacing woodsman ship. I’m all for folks doing what makes them happy but I feel that if you have to set limitations on equipment or eventually they will have to shorten the season.

The fact is the deer population has continued to grow. Seasons get extended or expanded because the herd needs more taken. It’s why we can kill does now. It’s why we still don’t have the two, three day split seasons for gun. It’s why bow hunting is allowed in September and January. It’s why crossbow allowed more.

132,000 were killed last year and 12,200 were with a crossbow. Not exactly devastating the herd.

So if the herd needs more control why not give people more opportunities? The only thing it seems to hurt is feelings. The deer don’t just belong to certain people. Seasons aren’t exclusive to just those that are self proclaimed “diehards”. It belongs to everyone that has a license or a property owner that wants to enjoy their time how they see fit. The truth be told. We could give gun hunters another week and completely end all archery seasons because it doesn’t do that much to control the population. All it’s does is give us all more time to do what we love. And that’s a good thing.

I know its not going to wipe the herd off the map. But i see your point and never really looked at it that way people passing on deer and such but i only mentioned all of this because i think it COULD BE a slippery slope if left unchecked. I love seeing people enjoy hunting i apologize for presenting my case in a negative way. You guys are a great bunch sorry to stir the pot so hard. I don’t believe in shaming anyone for any reason when it comes to hunting didn’t mean to come off like that

Not crawfishing man I’m just not good with words and I was seriously wondering why folks were getting so up in arms so i went back through and read everything and just kinda felt like an ass so thought i would swallow my pride and make peace with strangers. I still have my reasons for not agreeing with crossbows but i see everyone’s point. But thanks for your input
