Yellow four o'clock finally opened their blooms. I planted this one 5-10 years ago. We had many red ones at our home back in Tennessee. Fun to collect their seeds as a child and still is so today. Rarely utilize the front porch and noticed some dirt dauber had built a nest upon my statue hauled up here from Florida, scraping it off her neck moments ago lol...
but it suffered a bit of damage to its stalk, during those strong winds last week. Looks like it will bloom, anyway. Tough little guys, naturalized around here and over two feet now.
Although my left eye looks to have a decent chance at swelling closed, and many mosquitoes were sucking at my legs once again, I just spied, plucked, washed and ate both,
Even though I realized they could use another day or two and would still have a slightly tart taste, which they did but were still good, and just because I was determined to beat my lovely birds to what they had left of each.
Finally, the bed receiving very little to no direct sunshine is beginning to produce, two fully open standard orange daylily blooms thus far, and more to follow.
