That's what I thought about Shaq and look at his longevity
Shaq didn’t attempt to jump from the free throw line and put people on posters every play. He didn’t bring the ball down the floor and cut like a guard. Shaq posted and dominated. Like Ed said, a long gone style of ball. Zion could have that longevity too if he played that way

That doesn’t work. Either you are a pro or you are not and are exposed. He is being exposed.
I agree it probably wouldn’t work but I’d attempt to protect my investment at this point at all cost. It wouldn’t surprise me if Memphis uses this to void his contract

I just imagine his parents are setting around wandering where they messed up with him. Dude needs a handler to literally follow him around. If I was a team going to sign him he’d have a babysitter daylight to dark
I don’t know man, I had his mom pegged as a positive influence but then it turns out she threw a fit because a minimum wage employee at a shoe store waited on a white woman first that was ahead of her and called Ja and he and the thugs showed up and accosted this guy. His father Tee seemed like a really great dude though, blasted him and made him delete and apologize for the “F 12” tweet. I sat by Tee for 2 seasons at Murray and you could tell he was trying to be there for his son and make him a decent man. He is loving the lifestyle his son’s money is affording him though, from barber to NBA courtside regular. Lucky bastage got a pic with Jack in LA.

Dude could have been legit if he had modified his game, was in the right system, and surrounded by the right people. He’s basically a role player. Not a superstar….while being drafted and paid as a superstar. Nothing good was going to come from that.

It worked out well for Murray State’s other lottery PG, Phoenix Suns’ Cam Payne. He just about washed out of the NBA after 3 seasons from partying and not working but his dad got him a handler and he went to China for a season and worked his arse off and now he’s backing up Chris Paul. Hella PG.

A handler can’t make a pro and a handler can’t make a pro stay in line. If you are a pro, you know the stakes and grind. The system has a way of weeding out the less than favorables. Especially the non revenue producing fill ins.

Have no idea who the guy is nor what he did….but he clearly didn’t warrant the axe nor did he warrant media coverage so I guess it’s a nonissue? Just saying, it’s not the 1990’s anymore and whatever shit goes around comes around.
Also, if a handler is what a guy is needing to stay in the league, he is on extremely short borrowed time. His demise is eminent.

This dude keeps him accountable on diet, sleep, workouts, etc, not a crutch. Cam never was a thug and hasn’t been in any trouble, just a young 20 year old multimillionaire lottery pick enjoying the social aspect of his life more than the work aspect. He and Ja are nothing alike at this point and the funny thing is Cam grew up in Memphis, albeit to a solid middle class 2 parent household.

I understand. Guy just needed direction. He wasn’t self destructing. I get it. Good for him. I view the scenarios very different. Ja seems to be embracing negativity. Nothing is going to fix that. What’s with the new video of him allegedly holding a gun? I didn’t see the gun and I watched the video like 4 times. It was also just a stupid video that most people his age apparently do regularly. I also stand by his right to arm himself and video himself while doing so. Does the nba have a policy against that? If they do, ja is not right in the head and needs help.

Yes, it’s an NBA policy and he’s already been suspended for it before.

I mean…..dude needs help. Something is going on. Maybe he feels this notoriety, albeit negative, will somehow generate more wealth in the long run for him than basketball?!! Or the guy is completely fucked in the head and is a danger to himself and others. Either way, from the outside it looks like he is wasting his talent. I viscerally hate people who do not recognize or waste their God given talent.

You can see it for a split second. I get it’s his right but one it definitely isn’t proper handling. And it’s basically the reason he was suspended last time and went to rehab for 2 days and said he was a changed man.
