I do all day sits most of the time. Im always looking for movement
in the woods.Dont see as much movement in the midday times, but have
seen some big ones during the rut.I watch tree rats, birds and just
anything.During slow times I close my eyes for a rest for a few minutes.
Snack on candies and just relax. My hunting place is a 50 mile round trip.
So when I go to hunt,I hunt all day....
I’m 90 miles round trip. I still ain’t sitting all day unless I’m seeing deer.

I can’t do it on my farm in Ky … maybe it’s the baiting factor but I rarely see a deer between the hrs of 11:00 -3:00. Much less a shooter. Back home in Indiana, I will have action sometimes from daylight till dark. And killed multiple bucks between those same hrs. My 2 biggest 1:00 & 3:00. Good luck on your hunt!

Monsters are there, but few and far between. Deer densities are low, don't expect to see a lot of deer. First time there i didn't see a deer the first 2 1/2 days. First deer i saw, i just saw his back half stepping off cutline. I had just looked that way, then 180 degrees the other way, then back and I never had a chance. He had a sway back and drooping belly. Thought that might have been my one opportunity that week. 12 yrs up there i never saw one larger than 180s come into camp. Most years camp was 30-40% successful at 150" deer. Usually 6-8 hunters in camp.

I do all day sits anytime the weather and the rut dictates. From October 25 through the month of November, if the conditions are right. I am sitting all day. It has paid off for me a few times. But only if the midday highs are 50 or below. Did a couple all day sits in the heat this year and saw very little.

Main trick is to be comfortable, and take the things you will need. You don’t want to be cold or hungry. I usually take a sandwich and snacks. If the movement is slow I either read a book or use my phone.

Seems like the time flies by to me. Most sits.

I don't pull very many all day sits. If I'm seeing critters I can stay for a while. If not, 3-4 hrs tops.
I hunt zone 4, so it's easy to sit 3-4 hrs sometimes and not even see a bird.

Turkey hunting is a different ball game. I can hunt daylight to dark and be content, but that's not sitting at one location

I do all day sits any chance I get in November. Everyone always says when they aren’t seeing deer they leave but you don’t know what you’re missing if you’re not in the stand. Always see lots of deer all day but also have to be in the right place. I try not to stare at my phone to much while on stand just mainly relax and enjoy the time in the woods.

Play on your phone or read a book on stand in Alberta, you'll miss seeing most of the deer. You don't hear em as its sandy soil or snow. I've had deer walk right by my stand without a sound.

If it keeps you in the woods, through the hours that go by when you’re not seeing anything. You will see more deer in the long run. Might miss seeing some, but that happens any way.

I have always been intrigued by those who consistently are able hunt from dark to dark. On the very few occasions I have attempted it ,it feels like torture. I have no doubt that the tactic is a sound one and that many deer are killed by people who can sit all day.
Here is the question. What do you DO? Do you focus on deer all day? Play on your phone? Pray, eat , listen to music? How do you pass the time on all day sits.
I am asking because I am probably going to Alberta this year and will have to sit all day for however long it takes. Please advise.
Praying and studying God's word is advised while in the stand or blind . If seeing deer , I will stay . If not , may go home at nine or ten and then come back around lunch for an hour or two . Taken several deer around twelve and one O'clock . Of course I am hunting close to home , so I can do that . If a man is where he can stay all day , he may put himself in better shape to score . Can't take one at your spot if not there . Right ?

I don't mind the dark to dark sits, however, i only do it during the rut. I generally take a book to read and turn my Walker game ears to full volume. The sounds WAKE me up after nodding off. Killed the majority of my really big bucks between 10AM and 3PM during the rut. I use this to my advantage, that is usually the times that other hunters are doing their stalks, and they wind up getting the deer up and moving. I watched a really nice 8 point, slip right past a hunter. Deer couldn't have more that 20 yards from the guy doing the stalk. I was about 300 yards away and watching through Nmy binoculars. When the hunter would move so would the deer, only in opposite directions. Once the deer was about 75 yards from the hunter did he put some speed on and I killed him when he was 15 yards from me.
