Live round in buddy heater

I had a hoodie over my bibs, reached under under it to get my dip out . Something fell out of the bib pocket and landed in the very hot heater. I looked down and saw the .300 win mag round lodged in the heater with the primer near the pilot light. Haven't moved so fast in years, I picked the heater up and shook the round out, glad it didn't blow up, would have made for a messy blind.

I didn't hunt this morning. This happened a few days ago. It was warm here this morning and raining.

The bullet won’t go shoot like it would in your rifle but it’ll deafen you lol

I remember by late Dad cleaning out his overall pockets and throw the hay crumbs into a coal stove. Three or four .22 rounds went also. Just Popped pretty loud when they cooked off. I wouldn't want to be in there with a .300 Mag in the buddy heater.

The casing can make a dangerous projectile if the bullet crimp lets go. Usually they blow out the side but I wouldn’t bet my health or eyesight on “usually”

Plus you’d have to hose out your britches and get some hearing aids.

My cousin threw a 22 shell in a fire and it went off and he thought he was shot but it was the brass that hit him.
