Basketball died when jordan hung it up. Used to be a fanatic and loved watching celtics games. 80s and early 90s ball was something special. Couldn’t name a dozen players in the last decade

Don’t know if it’s the game or the nostalgia of younger years but I’ll never forget 93 Jordan vs Barkley and wanting to see Barkley beat Jordan so damn bad. Now, I have no earthly idea who’s even good or playing.

I absolutely loved the NBA when I was a kid up until around my mid 20s. Of course that was the era of Bird, Johnson, Thomas, Barkley, Jordan, and countless others these guys today couldn't hold a candle to. The new guys have as much if not more raw talent then ever before but the game is so much less physical and more boring to watch then it used to be. Bunch of crybabies these days too. Could you ever imagine something like this
happening today? Just a random example of how they don't make em like they used to.

Not a big NBA fan but happy to see LA getting sweeped. Lebron isn't what he/they think.
A recent article on Pat Riley(Miami president), back when Labron , Dwayne wade and Chris Bosh were the BIG 3. Riley hired the present day coach of the Miami Heat. The season was not going well so Labron took it upon himself to talk to Riley and TELL him that some on the team were not pleased with the new coach. Riley told Labron that he would address the team in 15 min. When Riley got to the team meeting room he asked the team members to line up on the wall. Then proceeded to tell the team that NO ONE would come into his office and tell him who would be the coach. Put Labron in his place.

Thats the sad part, many of today’s players have more talent but lack the attitude and toughness. It would be something to see what some of these guys could so had they been brought up back then.

I can remember not having that many channels in the 80s and watching a 2pm Sunday Celtics or LA game was every bit as big as the NFL. They would put the game on CBS. Today…no comparison. NBA can’t even compete with NFL. I liked some of the San Antonio teams that the younger generation thought was boring, but other than that the modern day NBA…who cares?!

It’s not as big as the NFL, but the NBA is as popular today as ever. Look at the salaries the players are getting, and owners are still doing very well (teams are worth billions). In cities with NBA teams, it’s not even easy to get a ticket - try it sometime. We live 4+ hours from any team, but still try to go once per year - good seats are hundreds of dollars for a regular season game. Big NBA/NFL fan here, and some MLB.

Watched the same games on Sunday afternoon after church when I was a kid.

Salaries in all pro sports is out of control, but especially NBA/NFL. Lowest NFL salary right now is $750,000. Special teams players are making like 2.7million. I read where Greg Oden made 24 million in 6 NBA season and barely played 100 total games. I’m an NFL fan but when I think of the money pro athletes and entertainers make and the amount of debt our country has, it pisses me off.
