I don't know if any of y'all have seen the new regs for coyote night hunting, but they've expanded the night season for rifle. After it goes out at the end of March it comes back in May 16th and goes through June. They also removed the 6.5 mm caliber restriction and now you can use any caliber.

Thanks for the update I didn‘t see that and just checked them a few weeks ago. I’m glad they did away with the 6.5 limit, I have a 6.8 I’ve had for years thats a real tack driver that I have been wanting to use. Now I can.

Getting ready to buy a new 6x6.8 barrel blackhole weaponry I have a 18in and run 58 gr bullets at 3300 fps going with a 22 in and should be getting 3550 out of a ar15. May even go 24in and bump it up.
I'm glad they removed the caliber restriction. I have an AR in 6.8 spc that I've really been wanting to dedicate as a night rig.

I really wish a 90 gr bullet with a plastic tip would come out in the 6.8 variety!
The hollow points shoot great but my experiences with them hasn't been great on coyotes.
110 gr vmax should really put a hurt on them but I'm concerned with trajectory and not being able to judge distance at night being a problem so I'm going for something very flat shooting.
The 6x6.8 is hands down ballistic the best round you can shoot out of a ar15 for lighter bullet except for the 22x6.8 it's little brother. 243 has a better selection of bullets than 224 for varmits.

Yeah if I had it to do over again I would have just got an AR10 in .243.

Not sure why you’d want such a big caliber for yotes? Why not I guess but a 22-250 shoots like a laser beam with about 0 recoil.

Was the 6.5 rule a safety thing or a deer poaching counter measure? Seems weird to have a caliber restriction.

Cityslicker..... hopefully you dont mind me asking....... but where can you find these new regs???

I've not looked real hard but cant find anything on KDF&WR's .... and even searched the LRC for proposed changes. Which in most cases a proposed change by KDF&WR's has to have LRC approval before taking affect and in most cases the change may not take affect until next year concerning something as this involving May / June. Many times the LRC approval doesnt happen till July and many times its not in affect when KDF&WR's prints their fall hunting guides.

Which I hope this happens would love to night hunt during that time .

Go here and look under "Special Restrictions".
