If you could pick one would it be
220 Savage
350 Legend
45-70

Which one and why? Also any manufacturer recommendations are welcome

I have a couple slug guns and 2 350 Legends.

The slug gun and 350 hunting ammo cost the same. $1.60-$1.75 a round. However you can get fmj for 350 at Walmart for $0.60-$0.70 per round. That 45-70 is running $2.25-$5.

450 BM is $1.60 now. They do recoil rather stoutly and less available in stores. If you go that route, find the ammo your gun likes and stock up while you can.

In the 350 Legends the only bullets worth having to me were 180gr Win or Feds. I think there are two threads about 350 on here. My wife killed her 8 pt this year with one. Killed my buck last year with same rifle.

You can cast your own 4570 bullets cheap. And shoot BP if you want. I guess you could cast 350L also but that would be odd. I just like the thump of a 4570.

As far as rifles go for 350 or 450 in AR platform. I’d go CMMG. If you are decent at gunsmithing… the Bear Creek Arsenal ones will all run after some polishing.

Ruger is best I’ve used in bolt action. Plus they accept the AR mags. Wilson combat makes a very nice polymer 15rd magazine. And there are several other that are fun for plinking. I own Winchester XPR, not as accurate as friends Ruger and I hate the XPR mags.

Buddy has a Ruger Ranch in 450 bushmaster. He sent me a video the other day busting hedge apples at 200 yards. He is very impressed with it. That rifle is pretty lightweight and easy to carry
I have a ruger american in go wild camo, got the 22 inch barrel with the muzzle break. I have been nothing but thrilled with it. For a 600 dollar rifle it’s hard to beat. Put a vortex straight wall scope on it. I’ve only got it to 100 so far but it’s 2-3 inch groups.
I bought it to hunt Ohio as well. Though I’m guessing I’ll use it here in KY as well.
