New deer rifle for Ohio questions

I’d go with the Ruger just because of price difference. AR upgrades are easily available if desired. Especially with $500 difference to spend. The availability of ammo for the 350L is mind boggling. On the coyote aspect, it can’t be used for nighttime in Ky, don’t know about Ohio.

I think a bolt action would have an accuracy advantage, but If this is your first AR platform, it’s not a bad choice. You now have ability to buy different uppers in the future. A $500 price difference is pretty drastic as long as you have a good barrel everything else is pretty much the same

I think you would be happy with the Savage 220 or the 350 Legend. I have a Savage 220 and shoot the 2 3/4 Accutips and can vouch that it is a very capable and accurate gun. I don't own a 350 Legend but have done a little research and whenever I am in the market for a straight wall cartridge, the 350 Legend would be my choice.
