400gr is pretty much the standard. Most of the FPS numbers are based off 350-370gr bolts. Heavier is better for limbs. I shoot 400’s. Mom shoots 425’s. Both shoot and kill awesome.

My dad has a KI but I can’t remember what it is. He paid like $215 for a whole package and it’s a shooting machine and weighs like 6 lbs.

That’s what the guy at Wyvern creations recommends 400 with a 125 head or a 425 total

What heads are you using?

Fixed heads don’t always do well with crossbows.

My mom, sister, wife and I all shoot the Rage Chisel (standard, not Chisel ExtReme) with shock collars. You have to use the Red high energy collars.

They truelly shoot the exact same as the field point even at 70 yards. My scopes max.

I have shot a deer quartering to me, it shattered leg bone, exited, heart/lungs and was stuck in a tree.

Shoot whatever head you like but those work best for us. They sell extra blades in a kit cheap too if you smack a rock. They even open on turkeys everytime.

My son is wanting to get a cross bow for my grandson for his birthday coming up. He is looking at some cheap ones at Wal Mart.
I think they were in the $230 range. We might be better off buying him a better brand used cross bow , I don't know a thing about them.

Getting one a youngster can load safely is really the biggest thing. A Wicked Ridge Rampage 360 is about the most user friendly for smaller statures folks.

The add on cranks are clunky and can bed down right dangerous. I don’t use a rope cocker or crank but my moms Patriot 425 is all I want to get ahold of without a cocking device. It’s so narrow my hands barely fit on the string then it’s 200lb draw.
