Looks like there isn't any close. I don't know enough about QDMA to start a chapter yet. Mainly wanted to see one in action and possibly help. I thought there was one in Springfield/Washington County.

We didn't either until we started ours 4 years ago. Now we have over 300 attending the banquet and about 1500 members. They will work with you and teach you as well as any organization I have ever been around. In addition, those of us at other branches, will come and help you work your events until you get established, etc. Great organization and good people.

Don't be shy about gettin in touch with Justin, starting a branch is easy and you don't need to know a thing, you'll learn quickly. What you'll Learn is there are others in your area wanting to be a part of a branch but for the same reasons haven't started one. When we started ours 4 years ago I just ran an ad in Craig's list advertising a qdm seminar put on by our regional director (would be Justin now) at our local gander mt. We had about 10-12 folks show up. At the end he took questions and then made an announcement that there was interest in starting a local branch. He asked fr anyone that was interested to stick around for some more info. I think 8 stayed and 5 of those are still around. We scheduled another meeting and within a month had our 4 officers and were rolling.

Talk to Brad Wingfield in Willisburg (Washington County) he was working on starting a chapter a while back. Not sure how far he got with it

Brad had few meetings, I gave a talk and measured deer at one. Something came up with the QDMA folks - (maybe between regional directors, family emergency?), but no one came to support the effort. Bra has been busy with kids since then. There are several folks in the Washington/Mercer area interested, but not much initiative.

CSS Archer, I remember that now. We were just starting our branch at the same time and had to wait for them to hire a new Regional Director. The guy that was here had to quit unannounced due to health issues and there was a gap. Now, however, we have a great Regional Director and National Organization, plus a lot more branches in the state to help out. Our branch, Derby City QDMA, has helped out Heartland (ETown) and Barren River (Bowling Green) and they in return come help us with our events. Washington County would be great area. I just checked our national database and there are already over 200 current members in Washington and Nelson County area. These are folks who have joined the National Organization online or at a convention. Good base to start from.

I spoke to Justin Lawson (QDMA Field Director) today and got the wheels started on a future Central KY QDMA Branch. We are looking at a Feb. or Mar. or May deer seminar and organizational meeting. More news to follow.

QDMA Bluegrass Branch

Hey Guys and Gals-
I have set-up a face book group called QDMA Bluegrass Branch https://www.facebook.com/groups/179208845462341/ for those interested in the coming branch. This branch will be in Central KY i.e. Lexington and surrounding counties as close or far as you want to drive. Please feel free to join the group and if for anyone reason you don't want to or want to deal with the fb group I will keep a running list of first names and emails, so you can private message me on here to be added.
