I would not let anyone use my blind before I hunted it. If you want to kill more turkeys stay in the woods until at least 1:00 they get crazy after the hens go to nest.

Personally I wouldn’t worry to much about it and I’d let him hunt it. My useless opinion is, leave the blind behind(you’ll have more success). Be still and blend in and talk dirty to them and they will come. Blinds are nice to have to get out of the rain. My son is 21, has killed 14, 1st bird when he was 6. Zeroed his entire HS years(baseball priority) and has never used a blind. When I mentioned one to him he threw up in his mouth.

I didnt use one for years still do very little. I had small farm on river i put one where saw lot of turkey. I put one in pasture behind my house to take my daughter. I don;t like them but they have there place. I hate random setting grew up running gunning big woods.

I would probably quit, or hunt very little, if I had to hunt from a blind all the time. Just not fun. I do enough sitting and waiting in deer season.

turkeys are pretty stupid honestly. If you can sit still and sound half way like a turkey you can kill them. patience kills far more than anything else. we have killed 7-8 turkeys from the same blind within a year before but its not really the norm. If I only had one place to setup a blind I would hunt it first before I let a guest. easiest way to kill them roost some the night before sneak in an hour or more before shooting hours and toss up a blind right were they flew up from.

I would prefer to run and gun and the farm is plenty big enough. The blind is because other people hunt there a lot and the owner is concerned about everyone staying apart. If I go when no one else is there the blind gets ditched.

You didn't say how many other hunters the owner allows to hunt the farm but several turkey hunters on the same property is a recipe for disaster. Either the birds will spook or someone could get shot. It happens every year it seems.

I have to hunt the weirdest place ever. Especially when it comes to turkeys. Unpredictable as the day is long. I’ve roosted them and them not even be there the next morning. I’ve also walked in, had them gobble in the dark, set up, and at daylight them fly right down for a chip shot. I’ve had em gobble like they are right on top of me and never lays eyes on them. I’ve had them coming in on a string then just quit. I’ve had days with over a hundred gobbles and literally the very next day, similar conditions, etc…not a single gobble. And if you want serious gobbling and strutting action go sit in the woods now. They like to think Feb/March is April/May where I hunt. Just strange. Also it seems like we have less predators now (of course we may not be seeing them) than we did 10 years ago and saw way more turkeys then. Also, like I’ve mentioned in the turkey baiting threads, they’ll hit corn in the Fall sometimes but as far as coming to it like clockwork. Nope, not predictable at all. There may be 10 come in there and hit it then not another turkey pic for a week. Crazy place and not easy to run and gun, and I like to move during turkey season.
