I rode out to the lake to hang out with a buddy and just chew that fat for a little while. Only got 1 bite but I mostly went to socialize with a friend so the trip was worth it either way. Trout have gotten pretty scarce in that lake and we need another stocking.

Did you get out of the truck to fish this time? We saw a few people heading around the far side of the 2 little docks. Probably about noon.

Yeah I didn't go till yesterday evening around 4. We did get out and stand around while we were there. Talked to some people who had been around the way you said. Said they been there since lunchtime and had only got 1 bite. I gave them the trout I had

Been sick off and on a lot the last couple weeks and hadn't done much fishing. Well felt a little better last few days and met up with my buddy Johnny. We caught 3 a couple days ago I didn't get pics of. Got 4 yesterday and then they stocked a lake nearby today so we hit it up and managed 12 in a little over an hour.

What bait do you typically use on the stocked lakes?

Your thread reminds me how much I miss visiting my Papaw and Granny in Chilhowie. Not just the fishing but having fresh fried trout on the breakfast table to go along with the biscuits and gravy. The smell of the pines and the low hanging stove smoke over the valley each morning. Thank you for helping me remember many cherished early memories!

Everytime I go, catch fish or not it takes me back, back to much simpler times and very fond memories of my father who taught me how to fish. I sure miss him and visit his grave often but remember him most when I'm on the water. Guess because we spent most of our time together either fishing or doing some type of hunting

Sure was cold enough this morning and I was excited to try out my new rod after breaking one the other day. It was a cheapo but I liked it and went to get another just like it. They had sold out and after looking at every rod the local Walmart had I finally picked out another 7 ft light action rod but had to pay twice as much for it. Anyway I had left it in the back of my truck and the darn thing casted fine although wet with ice on it. Got a good bite that nearly pulled it in and when I jerked and hooked the fish I realized everything on it had frozen up. I couldn't wind, the drag was stuck and all I could do was hold it till the line popped. It jumped several times and looked as if it went 2lbs or more. I sat in the truck and thawed my rod and reel out and managed to get 2 more putting us at 282 for the year. With 2 more months to go I believe we will make our goal of 300. Tight lines y'all
