That’s a huge issue. I know a thing or two about state government. I’m not a “big government” guy, but do believe government needs to be able to provide quality services. But when you have garbage benefits, and people can go work in fast food and make more money than many state positions start at you can’t fill positions or attract quality applicants. Meanwhile all you have to do is go online and look at the laundry list of political appointees making over 6 figures. Don’t get me started on the legislature…
Amen!....
After Stumbo wanted back in the house Spencer decided to step down after "prayerful consideration" and guess what, Stumbo is back in the house.....Afterwords Spencer's "prayerful consideration" must have worked because he was appointed to a $80K a year job within the state govt....and no one blinked an eye!!

Almost all of the interaction I had with them was waterfowl hunting quit a few years ago. At that time there was one that I would call professional with a level attitude. All of the rest were basically tools. Best I can tell whoever didn't have the maturity level and common sense to be a trooper got sent to be a GW.

Troopers and Conservation Officers have separate academies. They go to DOCJT in Richmond like city and county, then have another 12 weeks or so of specific CO training. Most don't know that State Police, Louisville Metro, and Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government have their own academies.

In eastern KY I was on WMA Elk Hunting. Saw a guy with a utility bed “can’t see through rear window” get ticketed for having his hang tag in dash instead of on rear view mirror, he didn’t have a rear view mirror.

That CO was an absolute menace. He ticketed every single person I spoke to that he stopped for something/anything. He hung out at my truck forever while I watched him from behind some rocks, I’ve played that game before. I had nothing but time. He left and I did too.

Yeah,..I'm aware but it doesn't matter to me where they go. All but 1 I ever came across acted like a 9 year old with a badge.

Yeah the kdfwr is buying 50 thousand dollar vehicles, so cos can park them in their driveways using them for decoys. I guess the ones who don’t make it as game wardens, become ff/emt.
No the ones that go FF/EMT are smart and stay away from law enforcement. Better off. Id drather fight fires than fight dumbass crooks.

Can you not pick up on sarcasm? Obviously they work for kdfwr or it wouldn’t just sit there. But yes, I always wanted to work for kdfwr. That’s why I work as an EMT.

Also, I don’t make a whole lot of money. Some cities they do pretty well for themselves. As they should. I guess I need to change my screen name now, as you have to something that is better fitting for who I truly am.

I appreciate the service you provide for your community. I feel you deserve to be paid a better than average wage, for your efforts. On the other hand I believe fish and wildlife officers are being paid salaries that would be better spent if they were going in the bank accounts of folks like yourself and other law enforcement agencies.

I think that co,s are too few and far between to make any significant difference, and there is much more deadly and serious crimes our law enforcement should have there resources focused on.

Around here you would be hard pressed to get in contact with a co with out knocking on there door or running into them at Walmart.
