listening to Dr. Marcus Lashly with guest Dr. Carolina Baruzzi at fire university right now on ticks. Take aways:
1 Taking deer out of a test area does not reduce ticks.
2 March burn does not reduce ticks in year 1 but shows a reduction of ticks in year two.
3 june burn greatly reduces ticks.
4 Ticks are more prevalent in moister mesic sites.
5 50% of ticks caught in traps contained tick borne pathogens.
6 Seed ticks have yet to feed and do not carry pathogens.

Scary one for me is that 50% of ticks caught in traps carry pathogens. The pathogens carried by ticks lead to some very nasty things....Stay Safe!

We've always heard that a tick has to be latched on for 24 hours to transmit lymes but other pathogens take less time. rocky mountain spotted fever for example, 4 hours, another take away.

Contracted erlichia and rmsf at the same time from one tick back in 2019. Took 2 years to get over it on multi doxicyclene treatments. Do yourself a favor and treat you clothes with permethrin or something depending on your area. All year.
