Help me out. Is this a persimmon? No fruit and the only mature one on my entire property.

Could be. Persimmon is a much more common KY tree tho I think. If I ever saw a tupelo around here I likely figured it for a persimmon lol

Mature sourwood looks similar, but I think it's persimmon.

They definitely have similarities, but I’d also put money on yours being a persimmon.

Here’s a black gum I took a picture of on Friday. I think the “blocky” bark is the indicator.

Could be a number of trees: Persimmon, Black gum, Cherrybark Oak. Update after the leaves have come in

Im gonna go out on a limb and say it probably isnt a persimmon. Just a guess... it's not as dark or blocky as the ones I've seen. If you can get a picture of the buds on the limb, I could probably identify it further. Having just a pic of bark makes it really tough.

My tree ID book says it's a persimmon.
