The original intent was not to give citizenship to illegals or every leech who slithered across the border and dropped their bastard spawn on our soil and make them citizen . the original intent was actually for freed slaves and their children.. It was changed in the 60 to include birth right citizenship for illegals children.. The president is well within his right to do this.... Trump is not stupid, he AND his staff know what the 14 Amendment says. Now look all over the media and the Democrats right now. Guess what's coming out of their mouths. In the last 2 years how many times his Trump said something but later did not do it???
Think about this. The Democrats 2 weeks before the election are NOT talking about immigration. There are several stories out there that the leaders are telling the ones running for office NOT to talk about immigration. The media are on the caravan but the Democrats are strangely quite, if this was 6-9 months ago all we would hear from them is the immigration. What has Trump done here??? Has he signed a EO yet??? or is he just tosing out the idea of a EO???? What would happen if KDFW tossed out the idea of a FIVE BUCK LIMIT right now before gun season in Kentucky???????What would we all be talking about on Kentucky Hunting Forums??
Trump is FORCING the Democrats to talk immigration one week before the election, they HAVE to speak up that they WANT OPEN BORDERS.

Not going to fix the Amendment it just needs to be enforced the way it was written and in the correct context. I don't think anything has to be changed in the amendment. It does not cover illegal aliens. During the 1960s someone started pushing these though the system and now its policy but that is all it is. Policy.

Now does that mean " illegal immigrants" can have and bear arms here in this country??? Aren't there laws AGAINST that????
I doubt Trump is trying to write or over write an Amendment but it's forcing the Democrats to say they support open boarders before an election AND forcing the Supreme Court to rule on it.

No POTUS has the power through an EO to “create law”. Trump can’t change the 14th Amendment legally. That doesn’t mean I don’t agree with the original intent, just that alone, IMO he has zero constitutional power to do anything. Yes, I understand it has been a policy enforcement issue, but one based on a literal translation of the Constitution, unlike the “Dream Act” bs.
Frankly, he needs to leave it alone. If we, as conservative supporters of the constitution want the second to be interpreted as it’s written, then we need to leave the 14th alone. Kids being born to illegal immigrants is not the biggest problem.

I think Trump is trolling the MSM again. He seems to be a master at this. I have no doubt he understands you can't change the Constitution with an executive order. Which I've always argued executive orders, in itself, are not Constitutional (unless it pertains precisely to the executive branch of government). No president has the authority to create laws Constitutionally...only Congress has that authority.

I guess the problem I have with all this POLICY crap is this. The Democrats and Republicans write all these laws and Amendments and then ignore them for decades. It becomes a social issue, blows up and we are in turmoil. Example the Kids in Cages being ripped from their parents arms. Obamas law and policy for awhile reinforced by Trump after we are invaded by thousands of illegals. The 14th after 100 years is abused because illegals used it as loophole. Now its a problem for all of us. Russian women are coming here a week or two on vacation just to have their child born in USA. Iceman said we have bigger problems and that may be but Geeze...when is enough enough? If they would have followed the laws they wrote to begin with we wouldn't be in this situation.
